However, curtains actually have to be washed, which can cause them to wear thin or lose their color, both of which are definitely not good qualities. One of the main changes that has also occurred over the last few decades is a switch from bold patterns and crazy colors to more sophisticated solids. Though there has been a little bit of a trend back towards the patterns and such lately, in general, people tend to really prefer solid colors for their home. Where people might used to have a hot pink polka dot sofa with lime green striped walls and orange carpet, a much more acceptable style today would be a nice brown leather sofa, burgundy walls, and a beige carpet—colors that compliment each other and don’t overwhelm the eye.
